01.OpenAI Debuted the o1 models


 On September 13 at 1 AM, OpenAI unveiled two models in the o1 series, which are part of the rumored "Strawberry" project and represent OpenAI's first large-scale model with reasoning skills. The company stated in a blog post that the new o1 model will "think more before responding" to user inquiries. With this model, OpenAI's tools can tackle multi-step problems, including complex math and programming issues. ChatGPT Plus and Team users will have access to a preview version of the model on Thursday, showcasing its potential in Global Marketing applications.

02."Honor of Kings" Reclaims Global Top in August



 Sensor Tower reports that in August 2024, Chinese mobile game publishers made a strong global showing, with 34 Chinese companies cracking the top 100 global mobile game publishers by revenue, totaling $2.09 billion, accounting for 37.3% of the revenue of the top 100 global mobile game publishers. Tencent, boosted by the Qixi Festival event and new skin releases in "Honor of Kings," saw a 41% month-over-month revenue increase, reclaiming the top global mobile game spot and driving a 5.4% month-over-month increase in Tencent's mobile gaming revenue.

03."Sword of the Lies" Shows Robust Performance in revenue


Big Data shows that in August 2024, the overseas mobile gaming market experienced new dynamics. Lilith's "AFK Journey" surged to the revenue runner-up spot following its launch in China, Japan, and South Korea. "Sword of the lies" made a strong showing, particularly in Japan, with its ad spend cracking the top 10. However, despite of its 5.0 update, miHoYo's "Genshin Impact" only saw a modest 11% revenue increase on the AppStore.

 

"Identity V" and "Persona 5 Royal" collaboration has successfully drawn in players, with iOS revenue skyrocketing by over 100%. Meanwhile, "Fishing Master"'s overseas debut surged in downloads, fueled by AI content. In ad placements, "Block Blast!" topped iOS, while "The Grand Mafia" dominated Android charts.

04. "Fortnite" & Epic Games Return to Apple iPad in Europe



 On September 18, Epic Games announced that all its titles, including "Fortnite" mobile, have returned to Apple's iPad platform in Europe. The company tweeted on September 17 that the iPadOS version of the Epic Games Store is now live in Europe, allowing users to enjoy "Fortnite" and other games on their iPads.

05. Mobile Game "Disney Pixel RPG" Set to Launch on October 7th



On September 17, Disney announced the upcoming launch of its new free mobile game, "Disney Pixel RPG," on October 7. Developed by Japan's GungHo Online Entertainment, the game is now available for pre-registration on the App Store and Google Play, supporting Traditional Chinese. It's an RPG adventure featuring Disney characters in pixel art, with features like auto-combat, outfit customization, and idle resource gathering.

 06."Pokémon" Scores 107 Million Yuan in Infringement Suit Against "Pokémon: Reproduction"



On September 13, the Pokémon website announced the first-instance judgment regarding "Pokémon: Re-enactment" for copyright infringement and unfair competition. The court ordered Guangzhou MaiChi Network Technology Co., Ltd. to pay Pokémon Co. a total of 107 million yuan for economic losses and reasonable litigation costs. Four other companies, including Shenzhen Zhishang Interactive Technology Co., Ltd. and Zhongnan Red Culture Group Co., Ltd., are jointly liable.


07. NewBorn Town's Tech Revenue Surpasses RMB 2.2 Billion in H1



NewBorn Town's H1 2024 revenue hit 2.272 billion yuan, a 65% YOY increase, with social business contributing over 90% at 2.07 billion yuan, up 67%. The Middle East and North Africa drove growth, prompting plans for a regional HQ in Saudi Arabia. Gaming revenue soared 393%, and "DramaBite" app excelled in the Middle East, averaging 1.65 million yuan per user.

08."Lemon8" Returns to Top App Advertising Rankings for Overseas Markets in August


Big Data reports that in August 2024, ByteDance's "Lemon8" ranked 20th in global mobile app overseas advertising, with a notable popularity surge in the US market. "Duolingo" saw revenue increases of 8.9% on the App Store and 23.2% on Google Play through its fun icon marketing strategy. "Pinterest" experienced a slight uptick in downloads on both platforms due to its fall trend prediction feature, while "Google Meet" saw an increase in downloads thanks to its AI note-taking feature.
